Ric Phillips received his university degree in Sociology/Psychology from Brock University in Canada, in 1996, where he enrolled in classes such as Social Psychology, Small Group Sociology, Non-verbal Communication in Human Interaction, Presentation of Self, Personality Psychology and Conflict Resolution. He worked in the office world for a couple of years doing Customer Service & Collections and then went on to become a certified English teacher through TESOL Canada. After teaching English abroad in China as well as in Toronto for many years, finishing up as Head Teacher and Academic Coordinator at a Business English School, he started teaching business communication skills and accent reduction to non-native English speaking professionals in Toronto under his first coaching & workshop business, in 2002.

But something was missing – Ric understood that communication was not just English language and he wanted to teach others to master the unique system he had understood and created – the 3Vs of communication – the verbal, the vocal and the visual.
Inspired by his friend’s encouragement, Ric became Canada’s first Communication Coach in 2006, and hit the ground running. Ric soon became a certified Coach and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) Practitioner through the Certified Coaches Federation and combined that with his formal education, his many years of teaching and his innate understanding of human behaviour to found this company 3V Communications in 2007. Ric Phillips is the author of several ebooks and articles, and is frequently called upon by the media to give expert advice on communication, public speaking technique and body language analysis. Ric holds a certificate in Advanced METT (Micro-Expression Training) by the Paul Ekman Group.
