3V Communications is owned and operated by Ric Phillips, and works with other coaches, trainers and companies in its pursuit of excellent communication training. Let’s explore the 3Vs of Communication for a second:

3V Communications is partly based on the work of Dr. Albert Mehrabian and his studies which showed that feelings and attitudes are conveyed 7% through our words, 38% by our voice tone and 55% by visual communication, especially by the face.  This was a specific study done in 1967 but since then many communication experts have generalized his studies to suggest that all communication follows this 7/38/55 rule, and that therefore 93% of all communication is non-verbal.  There has been debate on the exact percentages but the old adage remains true:  It’s not what you say, but how you say it.  The greatest speech ever written may have the perfect words, but if the delivery and non-verbal communication is boring, flat, incongruent etc. no one will remember that speech!  (At least not for the right reasons!)

When this company was founded the name given was based on the 3Vs of communication:  Verbal (our words, phrases, slang etc.), Vocal (our intonation, rhythm, volume, delivery etc.) and Visual (body language, attire, accessories, environment, etc.). What is studied, taught and assessed goes well beyond the original Dr. Mehrabian study to include the latest research in verbal and non-verbal communication.

In a nutshell, in order to communicate our intended message most effectively, we need to have the 3Vs of communication working in synchronicity.  When any of the 3Vs are incongruent with the others it creates confusion and misunderstanding to your listeners.

This mis-communication leads to lack of efficiency, productivity and ultimately profitability!  Whether you are talking to the media, leading a group, managing staff, dealing with customers or vendors, making a presentation or speech, or managing your first impressions, you need to synchronize your 3V communications to align with your intended message and ‘vibe’.  Our company helps you do this consistently.  That is the advantage of the 3V Communications system.
